PARTY AT THE PARK

Preliminary details for Selhurst Park Protest, involving former supporters of Wimbledon Football Club Ltd and supporters of Gillingham FC

To whom it may concern:

Thank you for your patience whilst we have formulated plans for the protest on the 10th August.

The Wimbledon Independent Supporters Association calls on football supporters to unite against Football Franchising. We are asking ALL supporters to boycott games involving Wimbledon FC Ltd at Selhurst Park / Milton Keynes.

Wimbledon supporters, in conjunction with Gillingham supporters, will be holding a law-abiding protest outside Selhurst Park. We ask all supporters to arrive at Selhurst Park between 11:30 and 12:00.

We have had hundreds of suggestions from Gillingham supporters and thank the Gillingham Independent Supporters Club for their stance on football franchising, and for their co-operation regarding the protest.

Outline of Protest:

1)  Supporters will be picketing the following areas of the ground. All Ticket Offices, Wimbledon FC Ltd Club Shop if open, Directors' Entrance, Players' tunnel, Wimbledon FC Ltd offices, all turnstiles around the ground. Gillingham supporters will be asked to picket their own turnstiles and the away match ticket office.

It is essential that all areas of the ground are covered, and therefore we need as many supporters as possible to attend. The media are likely to be in attendance, and the protest offers an ideal opportunity to show the world that Football Franchising is unacceptable in the English game.

Posters / tape will be provided, but please feel free to use your own imagination and design your own!!

It is illegal to physically stop an individual crossing a picket line. Informative leaflets will be provided for those that intend on entering Selhurst Park. If, after reading the material, they still want to enter Selhurst Park, or purchase a ticket, please stand aside and allow them access.

2)  At 3 o'clock the theme changes to Party at the Park. A minute's silence will be held outside the Directors' Box, to mark the death of Wimbledon FC Ltd through relocation to Milton Keynes.

3)  At 3:01 the Party will commence with a Conga around the ground.

4)  Supporters are asked to remain at Selhurst Park for the duration of the match. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. Voluntary donations will be invited from supporters to contribute towards the cost of food and drink. T-shirts will be on sale regarding the theme of Football Fans against Football Franchising. Feel free to bring along suitable seating. Whilst we would ideally like to hold the sit-down in the main car park, this is subject to change.

5)  Once the game is finished, ALL supporters are invited to the Thomas Farley Public House to continue the Party.

WE RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT NO ALCOHOL IS CONSUMED PRIOR AND DURING THE PROTEST.

If you have any further suggestions / comments please send an email to  newsletter@wisa.org.uk.

Please note: plans are subject to change. We will be seeking a meeting with the South Norwood police.

So 'Don' your own club colours: UNITED WE WILL BEAT FOOTBALL FRANCHISING.
