You heard it here last!

This is not a news site! Partly it's because we don't always have the time to keep the site up to date, but also because there are already good news sites out there, and we don't believe in duplicating what others are doing.

If you're looking for up-to-the-minute info on Burnley, or just general football news, our Links page suggests some sites you may enjoy. Alternatively, our ticker will give you a running overview of world football news - just bear in mind that you probably won't see much about Burnley there!

So, if anything important happens that we think needs a mention, that we have an opinion on, or that we just fancy writing about, we'll mention it. But remember: you'll never ‘hear it here first’.

No Nay Never  [23/6]

Just a reminder that It's Burnley, Not Barcelona author Dave Thomas is looking for patrons and advance subscribers for his new book, provisionally titled No Nay Never. This is a great chance to contribute towards the publication of what is sure to be a quality book, which will itself hopefully raise funds for Burnley Football Club. Full details are available on burnleyfootballclub.com - and don't forget that  Friday (25th) is the deadline for expressing your interest.

Things begin to take shape  [21/6]

Pre-season is now firming up nicely with a home friendly against Everton and a visit to Accrington Stanley to look forward to, plus a mini-tour of Austria. Hey, it beats the Isle of Man! More details to follow once confirmed.

Meanwhile on the player front, young Clarets Matty O'Neill, Joel Pilkington and Paul Scott have all signed 1-year deals - in Scott's case, his first professional contract. Congratulations to them all, and we look forward to seeing them in action this coming season.

The dust settles - and our first new player signs  [17/6]

Well, things changed fairly quickly after Steve Cotterill's appointment. Ronnie Jepson and Mick Docherty were both released, and Club physio Ian "Saus" Liversedge also left for pastures new - in his case, Accrington Stanley FC. We wish them all well.

Coming the other way have been chief scout Cliff Roberts, physio Andy Mitchell, assistant manager Dave Kevan, and first team coach (and ex-Claret) Mark Yates. Oh - and our first signing, ex-Ipswich Town central defender John McGreal. Despite being offered a new deal by Ipswich, McGreal chose to sign a three-year contract with Burnley. Apparently Joe Royle (who is in Portugal doing TV commentary for Euro 2004) wasn't even aware what had happened! Revenge for the Diallo situation, perhaps? Anyway, we'd like to welcome John and all the new backroom staff to the Club. Here's hoping that more signings will follow!

A big welcome to Steve Cotterill  [3/6]

At last, the announcement we've all been waiting for. After lots of speculation, today saw Steve Cotterill unveiled as Burnley's new manager.

We will no doubt comment more on his appointment in due course, but early indications are that he's a popular choice.

Most of us will know of Steve from his days at Cheltenham and Stoke, but there's been much more to his managerial (and playing) career. Take a look at the LMA's website for the full run-down.

We'd like to congratulate Steve on his new post, and wish him all the best for a successful Turf Moor future!

There's no news yet on where Stan Ternent might be going, but it was also announced today that Sam Ellis has joined Leeds United as new manager Kevin Blackwell's assistant. We'd like to wish him luck - except when Leeds play Burnley, of course...
