Why I'm going - Adie Randall
From Salisbury City FC

As you are probably aware, it was announced after last Saturday's game that Adie Randall has moved to Forest Green Rovers for £20,000. He will remain with Salisbury City Football Club though until the end of the season and start with Forest Green at the beginning of next season. (Obviously still after the Player of the year trophy then! - ed) Here's the interview that he gave to Wayne Boyce on Spire FM immediately after the announcement was made.

"I knew they were interested in me at the beginning of the season, but I was really surprised about this latest move. I didn't really get much notice of the offer. I got a call from Geoff on Wednesday and I had to make my mind up pretty quickly. I hesitated a bit because I've had a great time at Salisbury, my local club, but the offer was a bit too good to turn down, so I had to come to a decision, and I think I've made the right one."

"When you came to the club from up North though, one the that you were pleased about was being able to cut down on the travelling!"

"Yes, I'm back on the road again really! I didn't really want that but the deal was just too good to turn down, and I'll just have to get in the car and get on with it! I don't actually know much about the Conference having never played at that level, but I know it's going to be physical and fast so I'm going to have to get used to it."

"The rest of the team didn't find out until just before the match - what was the reaction of your team mates?"

"I think they were a bit jealous really! On the whole they were wishing me good luck and saying they would do it if they were in the same position. I'll still be giving it my all though until the end of the season. I wanted to stay until the end of the season - there was no point really in me going just for the last six or seven games, and I'll start there next season. Geoff wanted me to stay and I had no problem with that."

"Was it purely a financial move, or was football involved as well?"

"Money! (Laughs.) No, obviously money played a part in it, because I'm thirty now and it will be nice to make a few quid, but it's another challenge for me to prove that I'm still good enough to play at that sort of level."

"It's a two year contract - will you be looking to make a move back to the Raymond McEnhill Stadium at some stage?"

"Yes I'll be back in two years I think! Geoff said he'll have me back and I've always said I'll finish my days here at the club, so hopefully I will."

"Adie, thanks for all the pleasure you've given us over the last season and good luck at Forest Green."

"Thanks!"
