Here's a pub that has vastly improved in recent months - just ask anyone who drinks real ale in the Harle Syke / Briercliffe area.
Situated at the crossroads of Briercliffe Road and Halifax Road, the pub is about half a mile from The Commercial, which has recently been featured. There is a half-hourly bus service from the town centre, but it's probably best incorporated into a pub crawl down Briercliffe Road.
Not long ago you could enter the Sun, and see two forlorn-looking handpumps on the bar. If you were lucky (?) you could be dispensed Flowers Original, although there was no pumpclip to warn you - perhaps they were embarrassed! However, that's all changed. Now you're guaranteed Real Ale, in the form of Moorhouse's Pride of Pendle (anyone else think this is better than Premier?). That's not all, though. Don't worry, the other pump isn't redundant. Premier itself, Jennings' Cumberland, Draught Bass and Cains have all been seen there recently, so it really is worth checking out if you don't know it, or have forgotten it.
"A small pub which tends to get busy at weekends" is the simplest way to describe the pub. If you enter from the main road, you find an L-shaped room, with seating to the right. The bar is straight ahead. Directly in front of the bar is further seating, but only for 20 or so. To the left as you enter is a pool room. There is car parking to the rear of the pub, and outdoor seating.
A trip to the Sun is recommended.
