/10 Burnley Reserves 0 Coventry Reserves 1. Pfannenstiel plays the first half, with Kval coming on at half time, while Vindheim apparently impresses as a left-sided defender. He's available on a free.

/10 John Ward's Bristol City are linked with Cooke again. Rune Vindheim signs on a non-contract basis and goes straight into the squad for the trip to Man City. He's 26 years old and played for Brann Bergen and Fana. Pfannenstiel returns to Germany, although he may figure for the reserves again

/10 Man City 2 Burnley 2. Payton (34) Cooke (54) / Goater (always scores against us, 8) Allsopp (85). Team: Ward, Scott, Armstrong, Reid, Heywood, Vindheim (C Smith), Little, Robertson, Payton, Cooke, P Smith. SNU: Carr-Lawton, Maylett. Att: 30,722. We slip to 20th. See match report for details.

/10 In what can only be described as a sensational piece of news, Bernard Rothwell and David Iven resign from the board. They are unavailable for comment, and Teasdale is tight-lipped beyond the following terse statement: "We don't want people putting two and two together and coming up with five. Please do not read anything into it that isn't there. That is all I have to say for the moment." Speculation is rife that Ingleby will now be taking up two or three seats on the board. Oddly, the two directors left other than Teasdale are the same two that the CISA website claims were involved in talks with Ingleby over the summer to discuss a boardroom coup. The Football League set up a commission to investigate whether Burnley acted improperly when taking Ternent and Ellis from Bury. Bury say we took them before agreeing compensation, we say they were out of contract.

/10 The club announce they are considering a rights issue. This would allow current shareholders to buy further shares (it's suggested two for each one they hold), and thereby raise cash for the club. It would also give Ingleby a chance to increase his stake. If an issue was under-subscribed, non-shareholders might get a chance to buy. To launch a rights issue the club would need a vote of 50% of the shareholders at an EGM, which they should expect to get. There are 35,000 unissued shares. Bernard Rothwell claims to have left the board for personal reasons having reached "retirement age" and says, "it is now up to the other three members, but it looks as though Ingleby has a strong case" and, "it seems pretty obvious that something will come. There have to be changes." Iven apparently claims that his departure is coincidental. He says, "there are coincidences in life." Ingleby now drops his threat of legal action against Rothwell, with spokesman David Parry commenting that they don't "want to kick a guy when he's down." Away from the soap opera, there is speculation that Glen Little is to join Su'lan' for £700,000 plus Ged Harrison. Thankfully, it's pointed out that Su'lan' are already quite strong in right midfield. Man City Reserves 5 Burnley Reserves 1. New trialists Jean-Luc Vasseur (French, midfield) and Mark McVeigh (South African, winger) play. Neither looks like joining. Adrian Heath joins Su'lan' as reserve team coach, and Marlon Beresford is set to play the next few games for B R Middlesborough, whose first choice keeper is injured.

/10 Ingleby says he will support the rights issue if he gets two seats on the board. He believes a rights issue will be more successful if it is done with his support. Rumours abound that Steve Davis is unsettled at Luton and keen to rejoin us, with a fee of £350,000 being discussed. Vince Overson retires from professional football after injuring his calf again.

/10 More shock news: Blackburn based businessman Barry Kilby has bought the departed two directors' shares and will get a seat on the board. Kilby says he is a lifelong Claret, and made his fortune in a "media games" company, Europrint, which he recently sold for £16.8m. Brass is due back in mid-November.

/10 Colchester 0 Burnley 4! Payton (2, 11), Vindheim (50), Cooke (71). Team: Ward, Scott, Armstrong, Vindheim (C Smith 67), Heywood, Reid, Little, Robertson, Cooke, Payton (Maylett 84), P Smith. SNU: Carr-Lawton. Att: 5,532. We move to 17th. See match report for details.

/10 There is speculation that the premier league is about to expand to two divisions of sixteen, with Burnley and Man City possibly invited to join a second division - with Blackburn! Really…

/10 CISA indicate that they are reconsidering staging a sit-in in the light of changes to the board, but will be continuing with their petition.

/10 Kilby, back in the UK for the first time since he got involved, says he is prepared to talk to Ingleby and may not be opposed to him joining the board. He will put some money into the club via the rights issue. CISA now say they will only call off the protest if Teasdale resigns. Chris Scott is unsurprisingly suspended after five yellow cards in league and reserve games, and will miss Saturday's game. Billy MacDonald, 22, midfielder, ex of Partick and recently of the Finnish league, is our new trialist. His nickname is Duracell. Bizarrely, one time Claret Danny Sonner joins Sheffield Wednesday for £75,000.

/10 Ward's loan deal will come to an end after Saturday. We would like to take him for another month, but Bolton seem to prefer that we buy him, possibly for a fee of around £150,000. Meanwhile, Tony Parks joins floundering Conference club Barrow on a two and a half year contract for free. He will still train with us. The football league commission considering Bury's complaint against us begins sitting. Burnley Reserves 0 Port Vale Reserves 0. Trialists MacDonald and McVeigh play.

/10 Burnley are found guilty of poaching Ternent and Ellis and are fined £2,500 and ordered to pay £12,500 compensation to Bury. The club point out it is some way from the six figure sum Bury had demanded.

/10 Vindheim signs for the rest of this season and the next. We announce we will appeal against our fine. Kilby joins the board, and rumour has it that Teasdale is about to sell him his shares.

/10 Burnley 1 Notts County 1. Vindheim (90) / Pearce (8). Yes, another late goal - to us! Team: Ward, Swan, Armstrong, Vindheim, Heywood, Reid, Little, Robertson, Cooke, Payton, P Smith (Carr-Lawton 73). SNU: C Smith, Maylett. Att: 10,559. Swan, Reid and Heywood play in a back three, with Vindheim and Armstrong in midfield. We remain in 18th. See match report for details. CISA stage a twenty minute sit-in in after the game. They estimate that 2,000 people are involved, and hand in a 2,000 strong petition, which after some negotiation, is accepted by Bob Blakeborough. It also emerges that club secretary John Howarth has been sacked. Howarth, who joined the club amidst much fanfare from Blackburn, was dismissed on Friday afternoon. Illuminatingly, Clive Holt comments, "John left us on Friday and the reason for it is between the club and John Howarth." We are drawn at home to Preston in the first round of the Auto Windscreen thing on 8 December. Vince Overson plays for Padiham, while Marlon Beresford gets his premier debut against Blackburn Rovers, whose fans give him some stick. B R Middlesborough win 2-1.

/10 Ingleby says he has talked with Kilby and thinks he could work with him. He will not subscribe to the rights issue without first getting two seats on the board. Andy Cooke will get a one-match ban after picking up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday. Burnley will appeal, using video evidence to claim the goalkeeper feigned injury when Cooke collided with him. Gavin Ward stays on a third month's loan, and Winstanley stays at Shrewsbury for another month. Paul Lake, ex of Man City, joins the club as physio.

/10 Burnley 1 Oldham 0. Cooke (75) Team: Ward, Swan, Armstrong, Vindheim (Scott 69), Heywood, Reid, Little, Robertson, Cooke, Payton, P Smith (Eastwood 51). SNU: C Smith. Att: 9,539. We move to 15th. See match report for details. Before the game, CISA hand in another 2,000 name instalment of the petition, this time to Blakeborough and Kilby. There is more to follow. Kilby allegedly hints that big changes are ahead. There is speculation that John Howarth's departure may have something to do with the take-over. He may have been after a Chief Executive role. As a story breaks that waddle is about to join Australian side Carlton (sounds like a very waddle thing to do), our Australian Claret friends get ready to jeer and heckle him wherever he goes.

/10 Little was booked against Oldham for retaliation and will now receive a one match ban. The board meets, with Kilby in attendance, and discusses the rights issue. It's rumoured that Paul Fletcher, currently at Bolton, may have been approached to become our new Chief Executive, and that this was the reason behind Howarth's departure. This is denied, as is the hideous rumour that Kenny Dalglish has expressed an interest in the same position. Ian Duerden joins Conference strugglers Doncaster from Halifax.

/10 The youth team are drawn to play Oldham (away) in the FA Youth Cup. Ville Lehtinen, an Icelandic trialist striker, plays for the A team.

/10 Our appeal against Cooke's booking fails. Steve Morgan returns to training.

/10 Macclesfield 2 Burnley 1. Little (71) / Sedgemore (18), Smith (84). Team: Ward, Swan (C Smith 28) (Maylett 70), Armstrong, Vindheim, Eastwood, Reid, Little, Scott, Cooke Payton, O’Kane. SNU: Carr-Lawton. Att: 3,995. See match report for details. The run comes to an end on an awful day in Cheshire. The pitch survives a 10.00 and 12.00 inspection. Paul Smith, Mark Robertson and Matthew Heywood all miss the game through injuries while Peter Swan is injured but starts the game. Andy Cooke is sent off for "violent conduct." Ternent afterwards says the match should not have been played and tells Macclesfield player Eftebore Sodje he cheated to get Cooke sent off. John O'Kane, ex of Man Utd and Bury (on loan when you know who was in charge) joins that morning from Everton on a month's loan, and plays on the left.

/10 The board say they will put the 5,000 names on the CISA petition on their database for merchandising and ticketing purposes. Peter Shackleton, of whom we might have thought we had heard the last, says he and his "mystery backers" may still be interested in getting involved in the club.

/10 There is further speculation that a full-time chief executive will be appointed. However, there is talk that the man appointed to fill this illustrious position may be one Frank Teasdale! This is according to John Gillbraith, a long-time Teasdale supporter, allegedly, etc.

/10 It is confirmed that Cooke will get a four match-ban, missing games against Wrexham, Preston and Stoke, as well as the first round of the cup. Speculation says that Little or Carr-Lawton may fill in up front. CISA continue to get names for the third instalment of their petition. Tony Parks completes his move to Barrow.

/10 The Board are considering holding an EGM at the same time as the AGM (over Christmas) to discuss the planned rights issue. However, as this will delay the arrival of cash, the AGM may be brought forward to November. Ternent says he will not take anyone on loan to replace Cooke. John Ward walks out on Bristol City over their decision to bring in a "director of football." What might have been? Burnley Reserves 0 Grimsby Reserves 0. Ville Lehtinen plays, along with Brass and Morgan, who both make ninety minutes.

/10 Ternent decides not to pursue his interest in Lehtinen.

/10 Glen Little is being watched by scouts from several clubs, with Sunderland still considered the most likely to make a move, what with Heath's involvement and a possible swap for Harrison. Port Vale will also have around £2m from the sale of Gareth Ainsworth, and may revive their interest. This must not happen.

/10 Burnley 2 Wrexham 1. (Payton 29, 55) / Ridler (46). Team: Ward, Scott, Morgan, Vindheim (Maylett 49) (Eastwood 84), Heywood, Reid, Little, Brass, Armstrong, Payton, O'Kane. SNU: Carr-Lawton. Att: 10,019. We cruise to the dizzy heights of 14th. See match report for details. Payton takes his career total of league goals to 150 and tops the scoring charts with eleven, despite playing as a lone striker for much of the match. Mark Ford plays 75 minutes for the A team. Burnley are drawn away at Darlington in the first round of the FA Cup.
