Graham Branch level with Cornish Pasty shocker!
Player of the year 1999-2000
As at October 5th 1999

There were more than a few gasps of amazement when Stan signed Mitchell Thomas from Luton in the close season, but nobody will now doubt the wisdom of this signing as the former England International has stormed into an early lead in this season's Player of the Year award.

Andy Payton's hat trick is mainly responsible for his second place position, whilst notable is the low number of 'joke' votes. I wonder why.

Positions at 5th October:

Mitchell Thomas 124

Andy Payton 65
Paul Cook 36
Paul Crichton 30
Glen Little 29
Andy Cooke 29
Steve Davis 23
Lenny Johnrose 15
Chris Brass 13
Paul Smith 11

Also received votes: Micky Mellon, Tom Cowan (6), Dean West (5), Ronnie Jepson, Graham Branch, Cornish Pasty at Bristol Rovers (3), Gym troupe at Bristol Rovers (2), John Mullin, Alan Lee, Cheese and Onion Pasty at Bristol Rovers, the referee at Bristol Rovers (1).

Yet to get off the mark: Gordon Armstrong.
