Player of the year 1999-2000
As at 15th December 1999

The position at 15th December, with a significant amount of Derby votes still to be counted is:

Mitchell Thomas 261

Steve Davis 147
Glen Little 141
Andy Payton 125
Paul Cook 125
Paul Crichton 91
Andy Cooke 87
Lenny Johnrose 42
Paul Smith 29
Dean West 21
Micky Mellon 18
Chris Brass 16

Also scored votes:

John Mullin, Graham Branch (11), Tom Cowan (9), Ronnie Jepson (4), Cornish Pasty at Bristol Rovers (3), Gordon Armstrong, gym troupe at Bristol Rovers, Alec Gilroy at Bristol City, Bob Blow's new scarf at Reading, the Heads' grey sweatshirt at Reading, cab driver at Reading, the landlady whose hair was like Tony Hancock's at Reading, Mike E Benyon's floppy hat at Reading and home to Wycombe (2), Alan Lee, Mark Robertson, Alec Gilroy's friend at Bristol City, the referee at Bristol Rovers, Cheese and Onion Pasty at Bristol Rovers, rich Reading fans who can afford to pay £3 for a cheese sandwich (1).

Mitchell Thomas has not only consolidated his lead, but has extended it into three figures, scoring a massive 137 votes since the last mag. Glen Little and Steve Davis have also scored over a hundred in that period and are now vying for second place, with Andy Payton dropping from his previous second spot to joint fourth with Andy Cooke.

At the bottom, club captain Gordon Armstrong has finally got off the mark with a single point at Luton, and quickly followed this up with another point from the Blackpool home game. However, he still trails Bristol Rovers' famous Cornish Pasty, which is itself being pressed in the "non-player" award by Mike E Benyon's floppy hat, likely to score consistently as the weather becomes more inclement.

Individual men of the match since the last mag are:
