Burnley 1 Brighton 3, Saturday 10th August 2002
Zamora we played, zaworsa we got*

The statistics said...

We lost 3-1 to newly-promoted Brighton. Goals were as follows: (Burnley) Briscoe 90 / (Brighton) Melton 29, Brooker 65, Zamora 68. We had Gnohere sent off in the 51st minute (for violent conduct).

Our survey said...

Eric: Arthur was unlucky to get sent off, but he must learn to walk away rather than react to provocation. The sending off changed the game, as up to that point he was looking good.

Dave: Brighton closed us down, and we didn't respond. They got men behind the ball when necessary, broke quickly - and we didn't cope.

Richard: Papadopoulos should have played as an out-and-out striker from the start.

Patrick: We lacked invention and creativity, and the team as a whole looked lethargic.

Pic of the day

Before the game (obviously - the facial expressions afterwards were somewhat different), Firmo takes time out to model the new Wycombe home shirt. Oh, sorry - Burnley away shirt, apparently.

What team's that, then?

*And if you think that's bad, you should have seen the game.
