John:
I was sure that I'd end up with three bears in my bag, and David Johnson scoring. Wrong again! NITTY will have to wait! Another very good performance by Burnley - but I wish that Taylor could use his feet! Overall, though, I was very pleased by the good performance.
Editor's note: you probably know about John's bears by now - he buys another after every home League defeat. Still only the two so far. Not sure why the next one will be called "Nitty", though - John, you can buy lotions to cure that...
Woody:
A good game between two decent sides, poorly refereed; but overall, three valuable points against good opponents.
Firmo:
A decent, open game, with two sides trying to play football. Unfortunately, both referees kept getting in the way. It's amazing that anyone got booked, as there was no need for it.
Forest are a fairly good side, but we deserved to win. We probably had the better chances, although - Stan being Stan - we were hanging on at the end. David Johnson was excellent today...for Burnley. He obviously couldn't bear to score against us. And Gareth Taylor missed two sitters for us.
Huge hats off to di Branchio, who was undeniably excellent today. A great defensive performance, typified by his clearance from the goalmouth near the end of the game. It's great to see we've got Fortress Turf Moor back again - successive home wins against Coventry, Norwich and Forest is exactly what we needed to do to stay in this division.
Michael Benyon ate TWELVE doughnuts today in one sitting - the greedy pig.
Mike:
I was pleased how the team responded after the Manchester United defeat. They wanted to win this one. Taylor missed the first good chance, but we dominated the first half - Cookie played well in midfield.
Disappointed we didn't finish them off. Johnson didn't want to upset Stan, and missed his clear-cut chance in the second half. Taylor had a few good chances, and must be disappointed he didn't score.
Forest brought a lot of fans, but the home support was low, which was disappointing.
Michael:
We played a sound game, and deserved to win. We created the better chances, which we missed, but took a difficult chance. Burp!
Dermot:
I felt we continued where we left off against Manchester United, and we should have been 3-1 up at half time. The second half wasn't too good - opportunities were missed by both sides - but at the end of the game we got the result we deserved. Unlike at Watford, where we played well but got nothing, today we got our deserved rewards!
Peter Riley (Forest):
From kick-off we were slow off the mark, and Burnley were up for the game more than Forest. Burnley went 1-0 up due to our poor defensive marking, but in the second half we played better and had control of the game. We were unlucky not to get an equaliser, but Burnley were slightly the better side.
We'd like to thank Peter for contributing to our vox pop.
