Sheffield United 4 Burnley 2, Wednesday 12th March 2003
Nemesis

The statistics said...

We lost 4-2 against Neil Warnock's Sheffield United. Two goals from Michael Brown were followed by one from Gareth Taylor, but Peter Ndlovu had scored another couple before Robbie Blake's late consolation.

Editor's note: we don't normally do vox pops for midweek games. Tonight, our Vice Chairman insisted. So, please find below our mini vox pop (our vox popette?)!

Woody:

The better team won. They were faster and stronger than us. In Michael Brown, they have the best player in the Division, let alone this game.

But what a bunch of cheating assholes. They didn't take a single free kick from where it was given, and they didn't take a single throw-in from where it was given.

They foul first, and then go for the ball. They feign injury under pressure, and dive to try to get opposition players booked or sent off. In short, just like every other Neil Warnock team you've ever seen. Hopefully, the really good players will move on and be coached by someone who will bring out their good points rather than encourage them to cheat.

Sheffield United were two up by half time, but the key moment was their third goal. Branch was pulled, pushed and then heaved to the ground before they went on to score.

Despite all this, we still had five players booked to their one, which beggars belief. I'm looking forward to seeing these "home" referees at Turf Moor in the next six weeks.

Poll of the day

We thought this might be a little, er, one-sided!

Pic of the day

Unfortunately we don't have an actual picture to "enhance", so you'll just have to imagine Neil Warnock as a pantomime dame. (Quite a compelling image, eh?)
