Hush, Delilah!
The statistics said...
We beat Stoke 2-1. This was our first home League win of the season, taking us up to a giddy 20th in the table. Stoke scored first (Gudjonsson, 74); we equalised via Gnohere (76) before Papadopoulos (81) secured all three points.
Our survey said...
Barbara: It was wonderful to see a young star having a chance to break into the first team, and being so successful. Well done, Papa.
Woody: I thought we played very well, and was so pleased when Papa scored the winning goal. It will give him even more confidence to push on from here. I believe he's the first eighties-born player to score in a first team League match for Burnley.
Patrick: A thoroughly deserved win, although our limitations in midfield were all too apparent.
Paul: A good result against enterprising opponents. The best footballing team won eventually, with two great goals. The investment in Papa is starting to bear fruit.
John: Confidence rises! It's nice to have a home League win at last, especially coming from behind.
