Jules:
A promising start, but we looked like a side with no direction. We were no threat to Watford's goal. I was very disappointed with the silent Watford fans, which makes the whole defeat harder to take. Boo hoo, boo hoo (thank goodness for alcohol).
Firmo:
I was nervous before today's game, but I told myself I wouldn't be disappointed at missing out on getting to an FA Cup semi-final, because I never expected to be anywhere near one. But I am disappointed, because I think we let ourselves down today. We never showed what we were capable of. It's not as though Watford are a particularly good team, but they deserved to win today.
Stan will have to change the system now. We need more creativity, and we need to be able to find our players from defence. We were nervous today, and we just kept giving the ball away. And fuck the nuns!
I wish Watford all the best in the semi-finals. If they win the fucking thing, they might be able to pay Luca off.
One final thought: hats off to Bazza for taking half the prize money!
Lee W:
Very disappointed. Not for the first time, Burnley failed to deliver on the big occasion. Bereft of ideas in attack.
Woody:
The fourth official has indicated seventeen minutes.
Editor's note: drinking time in minutes before leaving the pub in Watford and heading back to London. Woody couldn't bring himself to comment on the game!
Brent:
I arrived with high hopes
Only for us to play like dopes
Chances we had but few
Watford, they scored just two
The chance was there, as we know
But we played for the draw
At the end of the day, ye cannae dae that!
Editor's note: err...what?
Razor:
It's all my fault. We would have won, but I didn't go for the pies at half time. Sorry.
Jane:
I knew it was going to be one of three outcomes today, and I thought I was prepared. But nothing can prepare you for Burnley not passing the ball against a bad side. In my opinion, Watford were rubbish, and the game was there for the taking. Apart from three players (Cox, Diallo and Taylor), Burnley just weren't in it, and didn't deserve to win. Let's just hope we pull up in the League now.
Paddy:
Very, very disappointing. We created nothing, and got what we deserved. The game was there for us to win, but for some reason we simply bottled it. It could be another twenty years before we get this far again. Oh well - here's to the play-offs!
Pauline:
A poor game, and unfortunately not one of Burnley's better performances. We started brightly, and for the first quarter of an hour or so I really thought we could get a result. Then Watford got into the game, and to be honest we were never really on top again. Smith's goal on its own was probably enough to win the game, as we never looked remotely like scoring. Once Glass's (good, it has to be said) free kick went in, we knew that was it. It's been a great Cup run, though - well done to Stan, Sam and the lads.
Poll of the day
We've mentioned before that Watford isn't our favourite place. The fans, however, are top-notch. After the game, Hornets and Clarets mingled happily in the pub, with none of the unpleasantness that's all too often associated with football "supporters". We managed to persuade a couple of Watford fans to pose with Jules and Lee (under the hat).
This is how football should be. We'd like to wish Watford all the best for the semi-finals and (fingers crossed for them) the final, too.
